Role Summary

The Infrastructure Support Specialist – L2 is responsible for day-to-day operations, monitoring, and support of the client’s IT infrastructure. The role focuses on incident resolution, system health, security operations, and escalations to L3 when required.

This role works closely with L1 teams, vendors, and the L3 Infrastructure Engineer to ensure stable, secure, and compliant infrastructure operations.

Key Responsibilities

·       Provide Level 2 support for infrastructure incidents related to Windows servers, Azure, Office 365, networking, and security tools

·       Monitor infrastructure health using NinjaOne RMM, Intune, and CrowdStrike

·       Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to:

o   Windows servers (physical and virtual)

o   Azure virtual machines and services

o   Office 365 (Exchange, SharePoint, Teams)

·       Support Hyper-V virtual environments (VM health, snapshots, basic performance checks)

·       Perform routine backup monitoring and recovery using Unitrends

·       Support network connectivity and firewall troubleshooting using Cisco Meraki

·       Assist with security operations:

o   Endpoint protection (CrowdStrike)

o   DNS & web security (Cisco Umbrella)

o   Patch management via Intune

·       Handle user access, AD group management, and permissions

·       Perform basic Azure administration (VM start/stop, alerts, access issues)

·       Follow ITIL processes for Incident, Request, and Change Management

·       Document incidents, resolutions, and SOP updates

·       Escalate complex issues to L3 with proper diagnostics and logs

This role is responsible for design, optimization, security hardening, major changes, and long-term stability of the environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as final escalation for complex infrastructure incidents across:
    • Azure
    • Windows servers
    • Hyper-V
    • Networking and security
  • Design, implement, and optimize Azure and on-prem hybrid infrastructure
  • Own Hyper-V architecture, performance tuning, failover, and capacity planning
  • Lead major infrastructure changes, including:
    • Server refresh
    • Cloud optimization
    • Network redesign
    • Backup and DR strategy
  • Oversee security posture and controls:
    • CrowdStrike EDR strategy
    • Cisco Umbrella policies
    • Intune compliance and patch governance
  • Architect and validate backup, restore, and disaster recovery using Unitrends
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting:
    • Performance bottlenecks
    • Network latency
    • Storage and backup failures
  • Lead capacity planning for compute, storage, and network
  • Own Azure governance:
    • Subscriptions
    • Access control
    • Cost optimization
    • Security baseline
  • Review and approve changes and architecture decisions
  • Coordinate with vendors and OEMs (Microsoft, Cisco, Unitrends)
  • Create and maintain architecture diagrams, SOPs, and compliance documentation
  • Mentor L1/L2 engineers, conduct knowledge transfer sessions
    • Work with stakeholders to align infrastructure with business needs.

Technical Skills Required

  • Expert knowledge of Windows Server & Active Directory architecture
  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure & Office 365
  • Advanced Hyper-V design, clustering, and optimization
  • Cisco Meraki (advanced LAN/WAN, firewall, load balancing)
  • Cisco Umbrella security architecture
  • Unitrends backup & disaster recovery design
  • NinjaOne RMM, Intune (automation & governance)
  • CrowdStrike (EDR strategy & incident response)
  • SQL & Dataverse (infrastructure perspective)
  • Strong understanding of security best practices & compliance
