Angola’s Journey to Simplified Online Health Appointments
A highly secure and scalable multi-user web based system that was developed to streamline and modernize Angola’s Health Portal.
Challenges
- While Angola had a mobile app “Appy Saúde”, there was no centralized access to a secure online platform where patients could logon and get information on Pharmacies and Hospitals in Angola.
- Moreover, there was no option to make appointments online.
- There was also no mechanism to share ratings or reviews of health establishments to help other patients.
Solution Implementation
- Salzer Technologies created a health portal platform where patients nation wide can securely logon to the web portal and search for doctors and hospitals available based on advanced keywords such as disease name, name of establishment or doctor. The profiles of Pharmacies and Hospitals are accessible to the patients along with ratings and reviews and information on nearby establishments. An appointment management system was developed where health establishments have the flexibility to confirm or cancel the online appoinments requested by patients.
- The system architecture is based on the three-tier enterprise architecture, comprised of a data layer, business logic, and a presentation layer. Necessary patterns are implemented to support business application integration and to allow usage of database
- The Home screen has a Search bar with type ahead functionality to allow users to see suggestions as they type on the search bar. The Search is separated into different sections as follows: Health Establishments, Diseases and Doctors. The Booking Section enables patients to make appointments with the doctors in the health establishments. The Navigation bar helps to list the top-rated health establishments.
- The user needs to be logged into the system to write a comment or review on a health establishment. Similar to the Mobile app, the user has a page to Edit/Update profile information. Additionally in the Sponsor and Map area section, the health establishments are marked distinctly so that the user can select and proceed with appointment booking. The Pharmacy information are linked with health establishments for easy accessibility.
- One of the security measures implemented in this health portal system are:
- All API Keys used to get the required information are duly protected and masked. The main goal is to avoid bots to be able to extract automatically all information from the database.
